43 East 19th Street is an eight-story high, landmark structure constructed in 1900. The building consists of limestone with ornamental balconies on the 4th floor and a cornice at the roof. The side and rear elevations consist of multi-wythe brick with stone lintels.
After an initial investigation of the building, DAA prepared a design plan that included the following repairs:
- Cracked decorative stone
- Cracked/deteriorated brickwork
- Mortar joint deterioration
- Spalled/deteriorated coating material
- Rusted metal shutters
- Loose mortar along parapet wall
- Loose metal along at the parapet wall
Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. worked closely with the Landmark Preservation Committee to ensure the repairs were perform properly and did not change the aesthetics of the building.
