10th Floor Roof Terrace

527 Madison Avenue is a 27-story high office tower and 10th floor roof on the east side of the property. The roof was a large roof area at the mid-point of the height of the building. The 10th floor provided an opportune place to install a communal roof terrace for the entire building population.

Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. was asked to design a roof terrace with some major challenges consisting of providing storage space for the window washing rig and concealment space of the neighbor’s west facade. Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. designed a built-in seating of stainless-steel framing, composite wood seating and back rest, and light fixture built into the seating. A vertical wall with built-in stainless-steel framing, composite wood back drop, stainless steel trellis cables and aluminum box planter box. The northeast area of the roof consists of aluminum planter boxes and perforated metal tables and chairs as a viewpoint to the urban landscape on the north of the plaza
