Main Roof Replacement
55 East 52nd Street is a forty-story high building with a main roof and window washing rig/ stair structure. The roof contains a 10’ wide concrete slab at the perimeter, in which the roof extends under it and also provides a pavement area for the window washing rig.
The project involved removing the window washing slab structure to replace the roofing membrane. The system design included providing a two-ply modified bitumen waterproofing membrane with fabric reinforced liquid membrane base flashing, covered with drainage composite, insulation and gravel. Stainless copings were installed over the parapet curbs with soldered joints. The intricate concrete window washing slab consisted of an epoxy coated rebar reinforced slab at the hold down for the rig.
