Façade Restoration

61 Broadway is 33 story high, building constructed in 1914. The building consists of stone at the first three floors and brick masonry from the 4th floor to the 33rd floor.  There are terra cotta bands on the building including terra cotta keystone lintels and sills. The top of the building contains an approximate 5’ projecting ornamental copper cornice with one story high ornamental copper brackets and bullnose at the window sill.  Copper brackets consist of steel framing with wood deck.

Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. prepared a design plan for the following scope of work:

  • Rehanging copper fascia panels at cornice
  • Replacement of steel truss components at building wall
  • Waterproofing cornice ledge
  • Replacement of granite soffit stones and introducing new supports
  • Reinforcement of keystone terra cotta lintels with steel plates
  • Replacement of terra cotta lintel units
  • Replacement of terra cotta sill units
  • Reconstruction of vertically cracked brick at building corner including refurbishment of steel columns and beams
