Parking Garage Restoration

625 Atlantic Avenue parking garage is located in downtown Brooklyn.  The parking garage serves major retail and shopping centers, located with the 3-story high complex.  The parking garage structure consists of concrete on metal deck on steel beams.  Testing and probing revealed that original construction did not properly consolidate concrete and pour concrete during cold temperatures, subjecting to lack of proper curing.  Lack of proper waterproofing membrane and roadway salts subjected the metal deck and steel to corrosion.

Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. designed the parking garage and ramp restoration plan to consist of:

• Replacement of metal deck
• Replacement of concrete slab with rebar reinforcement
• Replacement of majority of the steel beam structure and shear head studs
• Replacement of trench drains
• Providing vehicular traffic bearing membrane
• Providing fireproofing under metal deck and steel structure
