The College of Physicians and Surgeons Building on the Columbia University Medical Center is a 22 story high building constructed in 1930. The building is approximately 36,000 s.f. and is constructed of brick masonry with ornamental limestone on the first floor.
Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. performed an in-depth façade condition investigation of the building and provided a comprehensive report was prepared identifying deteriorated façade and maintenance conditions.
Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. prepared a restoration design plan for all the façade repairs including:
- Brick repointing
- Brick replacement
- Rebuilding brick corner on the north and northeast elevations
- Rebuilding roof tower brick corners on the bulkhead
- Rebuilding deteriorated brick chimneys
- Rebuilding brick parapet walls
- Providing steel lintel replacement 5th and 15th Floor
- Provide coping replacement
- Patching Kasota limestone spalls and cracks
- Providing window replacement at various locations
- Provide support for air conditioning units
