Ford Foundation is an 11-story high building that was constructed in 1966 and is a gem of modern landmark buildings. The building has an interior atrium that transcends the full height of the building surrounded on the north and west side with corten steel structure and glass storefront. The east and south elevation contain full height corten steel window wall and exposed steel structure with dry stack granite units cladding vertical piers and egress stairs. The monumental garden with unique trees and shrubbery follows the site slope of the south to north.
The plumbing riser which provided heat with copper fin tube concealed with the corten steel structure was concealed behind the granite unit cladding. The deteriorated pipe riser required replacement by surgically removing the selected stone units and reinstalling back. Careful stone anchors, clip angles and dowels were introduced to reattach stone units back to the concrete wall.
