Parking Garage Restoration
One Metro Tech is a commercial office building located in the Metro Tech Center complex in downtown Brooklyn. The garage is located under the building and is approximately 40,000 s.f. The garage is access through a ramp.
The garage is comprised of steel framing and reinforced concrete on composite metal deck. There are two parking levels, one to the east and one to the west. Access to the west parking lot is via a small ramp to the west of the main entrance ramp. The beams and composite deck are fireproofed with spray applied fireproofing. The columns are encased in reinforced concrete.
Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. performed a survey of the garage condition. A design was prepared to repair the garage including:
- Patching existing concrete parking surfaces in both parking areas and the small ramp between levels
- Installing additional wire/rebar reinforcement
- Installing waterproof traffic bearing coating
- Scraping, priming and painting corroded metal deck and reinstallation of missing fireproofing
- Localized removal of fireproofing from the underside of the existing metal deck at the base of the small ramp, replacing metal deck and restoration fireproofing.
