Volvo Cars Manhattan occupies the first-floor showroom and basement level maintenance and service department at the newly constructed 605 West 42nd Street.

The first floor consists of passenger elevator, communicating stair, men’s room, ladies’ room and janitor closet on the southwest corner of the space.  The first floor also contains a double-height showroom, nine sales offices, three cubicles and a customer waiting room.  There is an elevated sales bullpen, with access to a conference room and training area on the west side of the car ramp’s upper portion.  The basement area contains a customer service area, technician locker room/restrooms, parts department and parking for approximately 52 cars including a carwash.

Diaz Architect & Associates, P.C. worked as part of a large team to prepare construction documents to ensure that the modifications to the space were up to Volvo’s design standards from their corporate designer to enhance the customer experience.  Comfortable waiting areas with pantry and with car upgrade options at the elevated area for customer’s future purchase was included.  Service areas with customer attention cubicles were designed in the basement.  The design and construction drawings required working within the existing infrastructure established by the landlord.
